As a Clinical Advisor at Partnering Health Ltd (PHL), you will be an integral team member, accountable for assessing callers with a wide spectrum of complex clinical conditions, providing advice and information, including home care management and onward referrals as appropriate using clinical decision-making software. Efficiently managing the patient flow in line with KPIs, you will also ensure patient safety, dealing with potentially emotional situations with respect and deliver a great and caring service. Job Responsibilities

  • To undertake telephone clinical assessment (triage) with the support of diagnostic software providing advice and, if necessary, onward referral to the appropriate agency/professional, for people with a wide range of conditions.
  • To critically analyse complex information alongside professional skills, knowledge and experience. To negotiate with patients the most appropriate course of action to meet their immediate health needs.
  • To provide and receive highly complex and contentious information and have the ability to diffuse potentially emotive situations such as distressed parents, those suffering or caring for the terminally ill.
  • To ensure clear, accurate and detailed clinical records are maintained and updated via a computer system, maintaining computer literacy skills and attending mandatory training as required.

Skills and Experience Required

Essential

  • Registered with NMC / HCPC or other suitably qualified healthcare professional
  • At least three year post-qualified
  • Degree qualification or working towards / equivalent experience
  • Evidence of ongoing Professional Development
  • Experience of working in one or more of the following settings: Primary Care; Ambulance Service; Community; OOH; NHS 111; other urgent care services
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Clear understanding of Professional responsibility and accountability.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage and prioritise own workload
  • Be able to clear an enhanced DBS check
  • Must be authorised to work in the EEC

Desirable

  • Experience of working autonomously in clinical practice
  • Understanding of the call handling and telephone triage roles
  • Minor illness qualification or similar
  • Teaching and/or Mentorship qualification
  • Experience of decision-making software
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of Chronic Conditions Management
  • Familiar with Internet Healthcare resources
  • Able to triage
  • Good clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis and management of acute Primary care presentations
  • Health promotion skills

Hours

You will be working an average of 15 hours per week on a 3 week rolling shift pattern. Shifts will be during the evenings and weekends.

Training – IMPORTANT

You will need to complete the full NHS Pathways and system training to equip you for the role, where you will be supported by the Pathways Trainer and your Line Manager. Please note you must be able to commit to working full time Monday – Friday 8am – 4pm for 6 weeks in order to complete the course

The course itself will give you the skills required to become a NHS 111 Clinical Advisor but we will require your commitment and dedication during the course as there will be assessments that you will be required to complete. You will be paid during this training period.
